Dog parks in Guelph

Parks are listed in alphabetical order; designated leash free parks * are on top. Maps indicate the exact location of the dog park even within larger parks.

 John Gamble Park

Hanlon Rd by Kortright Rd. (Hanlon Hydro Corridor) View map »

The off leash dog park in Guelph is located on the corner of the Hanlon Parkway (Hwy 6) and Kortright. No membership is necessary, everyone is welcome, however there are no poop bags available so bring your own. There is lots of parking available.

The park is fenced with 2 ponds for swimming (one is controlled by the city so there's not always water in it). The park is in a very natural setting, and there are gravel paths as well as dirt paths and dirt paths to walk through the forest. There are no benches but lots of big boulders.

I heard a lot of good things about this park. We run a dog boarding facility 12 minutes west of Guelph and all of our customers who use the dog park in Guelph love bringing their dogs here because we offer the same the park offers: lots of nature, long walks on our own property, on or off leash, ponds to swim in, trails, bush and fields to explore. Group or individual set-up suitable for any canine with huge suites for over-night. I hope posting this comment here is ok since it is for the benefit of the park-goers (at least in my opinion, lol) to know where they can give their dogs a vacation while they go away. If interested please google us on the internet under Kennel Land.

all it is is a bunch of paths...and one major one that is supposed to be off leash, but 1)I didn't trust the barbed fence they had at one point along the trail because my dog would totally fit through there...and 2)It totally stunk! Dog poo galore! obviously some owners don't pick up after them, but then they let them run into the grassy/wooded areas and Definitely do not pick up after them...so yeah... PEEEEEEEE OOOOOOOOOOOO! Unfortunately this park got a thumbs down from me.

The best way into the park is off Kortright, coming from hwy 6 if is your first right, which is called hanlon rd. On a map it looks like a full road but most of it is the dog park walking trail. I recently went to Acton, Georgetown and Bolton's dog parks. People in the Guelph area have it way better than they know. This park is unreal compared to other parks. Such a larger areas, beautiful walking trails and places to swim. Not mentioned on here, there are actually 8 leash free areas in Guelph. On the Guelph city web site you can find all of the other parks. They include; Eramosa River park, Lee Street park, riverside park, Norm Jary park, Margaret Greene park, Centennial park, Crane park and of course John Gamble park. Many cities are fighting to get one leash free area, like Orangeville which they hope to have it open by the end of the summer and in Guelph we have 8 of them! These parks are amazing, and should be appreciated.

The map is confusing. Which road gives access to the park?

I drive from Waterloo to this dog park because it is so worth it. The BEST leash free I have experienced. It is fenced off from the highway! It has fantastic wooded trails, ponds, streams and mud! Everything a dog loves!!! Waterloo should have something like this it is fantastic!

I have a 22 week old Vizsla and he loves going to this dog park. I personally think its a great park and I find it to be very safe, I would not let my puppy run anywhere I didn\'t truly feel was safe enough for him especially because he does have more energy than most dogs there. He loves going along the path and going for a dip in the water just around the corner. :)

This park is great! My dober-dog and I love to go their and meet new friends. He espcially loves playing with all of the puppies. It is very safe and great exercise of human and canine. There IS a fence that divides the park from the road (of course). Go down the hanlon and turn on to Korwright. Make an imediate right and drive to the parking at the end. The park is HUGE!

It\'s totally fenced off from the Hanlon, when were you last there!!??!!

This is a great park for dogs, lots of room for them to run. my 3 dogs love going there.

How is this dog park considered fenced? Unless things have changed, there is no barrier, except a bit of distance, between the dog park and the Hanlon. Very scary.

It doesn't have to be an "official" off-leash park, any dog friendly area has its place on our website. If you feel comfortable taking your dog there and have good experiences then we want to hear about the place! Thank you all for the updates.

Ask your friends to donate to animal rescue organizations and shelters instead of buying you presents for your birthday or for Christmas. Learn more at the Donate to Dogs website.
